Piroctone Olamine has anti-fungal as well as anti-dandruff activity making it ideal for a range of products for dry skin.
Use: For leave-on products the maximum permitted concentration is 0.5% as this ingredient can cause irritation at larger doses. For rinse-off it can be added up to 1%
Directions for use: This ingredient is readily soluble in alcohol or aqueous surfactant solutions (such as your shampoos and conditioners). It needs to be formulated into a base having a final pH of between 5-8 and it is recommended that this ingredient be avoided if the formula contains nitrosating ingredients. Examples of nitrosating ingredients are: Proteins, Amines (Triethanolamine), cocamide diethanolamine/ monoethanolamine etc.
Piroctone Olamine will need stabilising into your shampoo or conditioner base as without that it will separate. We recommend use of a suspending agent to help with this.
