Benzoin crystals are the dried out gum from the Styrax Benzoin tree native to Indonesia. Fresh resin is wet and sticky, similar to other tree sap you might find. Over time that dries out to form crystals that are hard to the touch and almost stone-like. This natural Benzoin crystal can be ground down and used to make incence, perfumes or used to form a tincture or macerated oil.
Use Tips: The resin can be ground up and then diluted into Benzyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Vanillin or Ethanol to make it easier to use.
Use Level: Benzoin can be irritating to the skin so we recommend a maximum dermal exposure of 2% and typically less. This is based on a review by Robert Tisserand and Rodney Young - Essential Oil Safety.
