Ingredients: Dipteryx Odorata Seed Extract
INCI: Dipteryx Odorata Seed Butter
The Tonka Bean is the seed found within the fruit of the Dipteryx odorata tree. It grows wild in the Amazon and Orinoco Basins. Tonka bean extract is often used as a vanilla substitute due to its aroma (imparted by its high coumarin content). It is also a fixative or base note and is often used for its odour neutralising power.
Appearance: Off-white to yellow solid/liquid (temperature dependent)
Origin: Naturally derived from the pressing of the bean of Dipteryx odorata without the use of solvents
Recommended Usage: 1-3%
Melting Point: 15°C
Suitable for: Haircare, Skincare and Make Up
Benefits:

Formulation Tips: Heat to 80°C and homogenise before use
Notes: The ingredient is banned in the USA by the FDA as in large doses it can cause liver and heart problems (Tonka Bean Butter supplied by New Directions Australia is not for human consumption).
