Origin: Cetearyl Alcohol which is vegetable derived mixed with ethylene oxide which is synthetic (Petroleum derivative) to give the product surface-activity.
Form: Waxy pellets (solid)
Melting Point: around 50C
Solubility: Dissolves in water and alcohol solutions.
Function: Can form part of an emulsification system when paired with a fattty alcohol such as cetearyl alcohol.
Use levels: This heavily depends on what you are looking to make for for emulsions typical use is 0.1-1%, for hair products up to 20% is added into the water phase. As an emulsifying agent this is a non-ionic ingredient. HLB = 15.2
