Product Description
Ingredients: Purified Water, Glycerine, Carrageenan, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice Powder
A rich soothing gel base that can be used (as is) as a moisturiser, or as a base for preparing serums and treatment gels.
This naturally derived gel differs from our regular Aloe Gel in its gelling agent. In this case we use Carrageenan (Iota) derived from Red Seaweed.
Best Suited For:
This is the best Aloe Gel to choose if you are making acidic gel formulations such as AHA serum and spot treatments. The Carrageenan gel will first thicken when acid is added as the reduction in pH increases the gel strength. As with all customisations we do recommend you carry out full stability testing on your products to ensure they stay stable throughout their desired shelf life.
Not Recommended For:
Carrageenan gum gels are incompatible with calcium ions so this can't be mixed with milk powder or other calcium rich extracts or minerals. This base is also unsuitable for use in making Alcohol-based sanitiser gels as the gum will only tolerate up to 20% alcohol - this is not enough for an antimicrobial gel.
Fragrancing: Try 3 to 7 drops of essential oil or fragrant oil to 100 g of Aloe Vera Gel if a different aroma is desired. The options are endless with this product, be creative and experiment with your favorite oils.
Colouring: Make a dilute solution of water soluble food colours in water. Try 1 to 5 drops of dilute colours to 100g of Aloe Vera Gel.
Usage: To use as is, simply apply a small amount to clean skin. To enhance, take the desired amount of Aloe Vera Gel and add active ingredients, essential oils and/or colour to suit your particular purpose and mix.
